I know what you're thinking...How can I refer to myself as a "Leather God". The answer is easy and complicated. I did leather work for around 25 years. I don't mean sitting in my home work shop piddling around after work while my wife makes dinner and then give a belt to everyone I know for Christmas. (Actually I have done the belts for Christmas thing).

I did custom leather work in storefronts mostly in shopping malls for the first 8 or 9 years. I worked in a window at one place. But mostly I had a bench set-up in a prominent place in the store. It was a leather wear and footwear and bag business with picturesque hippie employees. I would do minor repairs on our stuff, fit belts and sandals and fulfill custom orders as well as do my own original designs and creations.

This belt is about 2.5 inches wide, has a bead strip sewn on between 2 half inch strips which are attached w/ brass wire. Three plain brass concho/buttons on each end of the bead strip. A heavy brass buckle, keeper and tip finish it.

Small dresser top mirror I made some time in the mid seventies. It's water formed with brass cobbles holding it together in the back

These are leather wristbands featuring inspirational words and some with the symbol/logos of 12 step recovery programs. These were very popular 40 years ago when I started working in the stores. Of course then they were ordered by middle and high school kids with their names (or their girl/boy friends) on them. I'm trying to bring them back except for adults. They were $5. back then. I'm not sure what they should cost now...

This is Spike. In 1989 I was living in a crummy basement apartment with my son Cameron. It became necessary for me to quit my carpentry job to take care of Cam over the summer break. To keep the rent paid and food on the table I created Spike. I probably made 20 - 25 of him. Mostly custom. I made them in various colors and types of leather. I was even commissioned to build a fat Spike. This is the original Spike prototype
